Paganini - Sonata No. 6 Op. 3

Sheet music for violin

Info: The Sonata in E minor No. 6 for violin & guitar, Op. 3, MS 27 is part of the second installment in a group of 12 sonatas (the others are the six sonatas of Op. 2). Only this piece of the Op. 3 sonatas has achieved fame during the two centuries since its birth, is really very well-known as a showpiece and encore, arranged for violin and piano -- probably simply because it is both the flashiest of all the Op. 2/Op. 3 sonatas.
Date: 1820
Artist: Niccolò Paganini
Born: 27 October 1782, Genoa
Died: 27 May 1840, Nice
The artist: Italian violinist, violist, guitarist, and composer. He was the most celebrated violin virtuoso of his time, and left his mark as one of the pillars of modern violin technique. Because of his widely rumored association with the devil, the Church denied his body a Catholic burial in Genoa. It took four years and an appeal to the Pope before the Church let his body be transported to Genoa, but it was still not buried. His remains were finally laid to rest in 1876, in a cemetery in Parma.
