Chopin - Variations on a theme by Rossini

Sheet music for flute

Alt. Title: Variations on “Non più mesta accanto al fuoco”; Variations in E major on a Theme from Rossini's La Cenerentola
Info: This arrangement from a famous Rossini aria is loaded with creativity. Every one of the four varieties is an enhanced form of the main theme. These splendid varieties comes from the aria "Non più mesta acanto al fuoco", which is the finish of Rossini's drama "La Cenerentola" (Cinderella). In this aria, Angelina (otherwise called Cenerentola) bids farewell to every one of the days she spent as a tutor at her stepfather's home. Rossini, much appreciated by Chopin, formed the whole composition in 24 days. Apparently, there was just one duplicate of the composition, and that it was kept by one of the writer's companions. The work didn't show up on paper until 1953.
