J. S. Bach - Orchestral Suite No. 2 (II. Rondeau)

Sheet music for flute

Info: Second movement (Rondeau) of the Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor, BWV 1067, scored for strings, continuo, and solo flute. A rondeau in the Baroque refers to any piece that consists of a refrain and different "couplets", which were 8- to 16-measure contrasting strains. The "couplets" might be in related keys, or remain in the original tonic. This form later developed into the rondo, so popular in the time of Mozart.
Opus number: BWV 1067, Mvt. 2
Date: 1738–39
Artist: Johann Sebastian Bach
Born: 21 March 1685 , Eisenach
Died: 28 July 1750 , Leipzig
The artist: One of the greatest composers of all time. Bach wrote hundreds of pieces for organ, choir, as well as many other instruments. He spent most of his life as a church organist and a choir director. His music combines profound expression with clever musico-mathematical feats, like fugues and cannons in which the same melody is played against itself in various ways.
